I consider this collection to be one of the best from the F/W 2012. Dolce and Gabbana has certainly made a statement with their 73 one-off collection, celebrating one theme: Baroque. Inspired by their favorite Italian city Sicily, the designers launched Alta Moda, a collection with a flair of the Marie Antoinette-style era, replacing white lace with black. Admired for its opulence, the collection has announced the coming of this trend for the A/W 2012 season, with several brands launching their own take on the trend. Get ready to channel your inner 18th century diva!
“Knitwear has always been a fundamental part of our collections. We used it for maxi pulllovers and cardigans as well as for the little V-neck sweaters. We created woven scarves and the wollen union suits once used by shepherds and farmers in Sicily. We love touching wool, feeling it in our skin, seeing it worn by men and women alike”
(Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana as quoted in British Vogue)
