A team consisting of Emirati youth? Check. A magazine that writes about everything going on in the Gulf? Check. It seems like Emirates Diaries has got it all covered!
Founded by Maryam Al Mansoori and Mohammad Al Banna, Emirates Diaries is simply what you could call “Youth for the youth”. The magazine includes articles on initiatives such as Think-Up GCC, Ebda3 GCC and also artists such as Rashid Hussein and Khawla Al Marri. Our favorite piece of the magazine “obviously” would be the fashion and beauty section where we were featured! To promote their very first issue, Emirates Diaries hosted a launch at Zayed University on Saturday the 17th of November and made it a public event. Of course, members of our team attended to witness the success of our friends! The schedule consisted of the activities that will be taking place during the event which included action painting and talks. Starting off with a motivational speech from Ali Al Suloom of Ask Ali, the event seemed to go quite smoothly. They featured an artist drawing the magazine’s logo in action, which dazzled the bewildered onlookers. Then each of the founders talked about how the journey was for them and what difficulties each of them faced. After they spoke the founders answered any questions asked by people from the audience. Throughout the event one could play a game of chess against Jamila Al Ahli or get a drink at the Guarana stand, which made it more fun! Later young author Dubai Abulhoul spoke about pursuing dreams, which was very inspirational. In the end, the host wrapped up the event with a thank you speech to all the members, contributors and sponsors. Just reading the magazine, you could say that all their hard work paid off!
